The Ranch at Prescott

The Ranch at Prescott is a planned community three miles east of downtown Prescott, Arizona. Entrance to The Ranch is from Highway 69 and Lee Blvd.
The Ranch which nestles on the hillsides that border the Prescott National Forest was created in 1987 by developers Jim and Linda Lee. The Ranch is currently made up of eight units that contain about 950 home sites on the 1,000 acres of the former Bullwhacker Ranch. Presently there are more than 500 homes with more being built each year. Each Unit is represented by an elected Council Member and Alternate.

About the Ranch HOA

In September 2005, the developer turned over control of the HOA to homeowners and the first HOA Council was elected. The Architectural Committee remains under the direction and control of the developer.   The Ranch at Prescott Homeowners Association Manager, (HOAMCO) and the elected Unit Representatives to the Association’s Council, frequently receive questions from lot owners (Association Members) regarding the characteristics and purpose of the Association. We have provided a Ranch HOA Purpose document to assist our Association Members in better understanding the organization and purpose of The Ranch HOA.

Hassayampa Golf & Country Club

Hassayampa_019

Hassayampa Golf Club, located in the mountains of Northern Arizona, is Prescott’s Premier Private Golf Club, and the only Golf Club in the Greater Prescott Area that is a member-owned equity club.

Situated in the forested terrain overlooking downtown Prescott (just two miles away), Hassayampa Golf Club features a Tom Weiskopf Signature Golf Course, a full-featured practice facility, rustic-style clubhouse with complete amenities, tall pine trees, boulder out-croppings, and dramatic forest and long distance views.

Residency in the Hassyampa Community is not required for membership in the club.  A variety of membership plans are available, including golf, social, dining and corporate. The Club is also available for outside events, such as weddings, anniversaries, parties, retreats and golf outings.

Hassayampa Golf Club sits on the site of the original Hassayampa Country Club, established in 1919, the First Golf and Social Club in Northern Arizona.

Prescott was established in 1864, and incorporated 17 years later, 31 years before Arizona even became a state. Life must have been hard in Arizona in those days, and it didn’t get much easier until almost 40 years later, in 1919, when a group of returning WWI vets and Prescott’s local community leaders got together and decided they needed to create an enjoyable diversion…a golf course!

They scoured the surrounding land for the most perfect site, and found a pristine location of tall pines, deep ravines and dramatic rock outcroppings just a couple miles from downtown Prescott.

They quickly acquired 85 acres of that beautiful land and soon opened Hassayampa Country Club, nine challenging holes that were the centerpiece of the first golf and social club in northern Arizona.

Hassayampa Country Club maintained a prestigious reputation as the finest club of its type in northern Arizona for fifty years until it closed in 1969.

The original course lay dormant and discarded for almost 30 years, when in the early 1990’s, urged by a group of local golfers and citizens, a developer (Desert Troon) acquired the property where the old Country Club stood, and additional property in the surrounding area.

The developer then hired renowned golf course architect Tom Weiskopf to design a new 18 hole course. Already acclaimed for his designs on the two high-desert Troon courses, as well as the Tournament Players Club and Flagstaff’s Forest Highlands, Weiskopf seemed a natural choice to design Arizona’s newest upscale membership course-Prescott’s Hassayampa Golf Club.

“Hassayampa has the three natural features that every architect wishes for, big trees, natural streams and very significant elevation changes,” said Weiskopf. “Land as spectacular as Hassayampa deserves nothing less than a superior golfing experience,” he added. I

Six of the new 18 holes were overlayed on the site of the original Country Club’s six holes. The other holes extended up into the higher elevations the property, creating spectacular views.

Respecting the existing landscape and honoring the history of the course were strict themes in course design and construction. Instead of plowing down the tall chaparral, the course was instead sculpted out of the dense vegetation. As an alternative to disturbing the two environmentally sensitive natural creeks on the site, they became features of the course.

The new Hassayampa Golf Club opened in August of 1996.

The result is a stunning 18 hole Par 71 Masterpiece. The various elevations of the course, which range between 5,200 and 6,000 feet, allow for breathtaking views. While preparing for a tee shot, it’s difficult to overlook the 360-degree vantage points offered from many of the tee boxes. In the forefront stands the historical village of Prescott, nestled quietly among a circle of ponderosa pines that surround the town. The numerous boulder outcroppings offered features unique to the topography.

In March of 2008, the Members bought the club from the developer, and Hassayampa Golf Club is now the only MEMBER-OWNED
Private Golf Club in the Greater Prescott Area.
